Freshman Webster Powers Wooster Past John Carroll 3-1

Freshman outside hitter Erin Webster made huge strides on Wednesday night, producing double-digits in kills and digs in leading The College of Wooster to a 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-11, 25-20) win over John Carroll University.

 

The Fighting Scots (8-2) looked Webster's way all night, as she tallied a team-high 16 kills and no errors on 31 attempts, equaling a .516 hitting percentage. Webster also chipped in with 21 digs, right behind Kelley Johnson who led the team with 26.

 

Like Webster, first-year Melissa Morgan had a breakout game as well, totaling her own double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. KateLynn Riley was active around the net as usual, smashing down 12 kills, and racking up a season-high nine total blocks (4 solo, 5 assists). The Scots combined to record 12 blocks on the night.

 

Also standing out in the win were sophomores Lizzi Beal and Margaret Raabe, who registered 47 assists and four service aces, respectively.

 

The Scots will look to win their sixth match in row on Sept. 23 when they host Muskingum College at 7 p.m.
