Scot Spikers Eight-Match Win Streak Comes to a Halt

The College of Wooster volleyball team had its eight-match winning streak snapped on Sunday with losses to both Hiram College (25-21, 28-26, 25-23) and Wittenberg University (25-18, 25-21, 25-13) in North Coast Athletic Conference action at Meadville, Pa.

The Fighting Scots (11-4, 2-2 NCAC) pushed Hiram to the brink in all three sets, including an exciting second set that took 54 total points to settle. For the second time this season, senior KateLynn Riley had no errors in a match, smashing 14 kills on 36 attempts to pace Wooster's attack. First-year Erin Webster chipped in with 10 kills and Kelly Johnson had a match-high 25 digs in the setback.

Wittenberg, which improved to 6-0 in the NCAC over the weekend, had 11 total blocks against the Scots, including three solo and two assists from Christine Simpson. Webster posted a solo block and tied for the team-high with four kills, but Wooster posted a season-low .085 hitting percentage and failed to generate a consistent attack throughout the match.

The Scots will get another crack at Wittenberg this Friday on the road at 7 p.m.
