Volleyball Earns NCAC Weekend Sweep, Topping Denison and Allegheny on Sunday

The College of Wooster volleyball team continued its dominance in North Coast Athletic Conference action, steamrolling past Denison University (25-19,25-23,25-22) and Allegheny College (25-13, 26-24, 25-18) in straight sets to sweep its weekend road trip at Richmond, Ind.

 

The Fighting Scots (19-6, 10-3 NCAC) looked good in picking up a win over Denison, spreading their kills out between KateLynn Riley (18), Erin Webster (9), Melissa Morgan (6), and Sarah Hawke (6). Lizzi Beal kept the attack rolling in dishing out 38 assists, while also chipping in 10 digs, two service aces and two blocks. Kelly Johnson led the Scots with 15 digs, and Morgan and Sarah Lorch each tallied four blocks while patrolling the net.

 

Then in Wooster's second match against Allegheny, the Scots again won in three straight sets to earn its second victory over the Gators this week (3-2, Oct. 14). Morgan posted a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs, and Riley added 16 kills and five total blocks. Beal recorded 36 assists and 10 digs, and Johnson had 30 digs in the win.

 

Wooster, which has now won its last eight-straight NCAC contests, hosts Denison at Timken Gymnasium on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
