Wooster Tops Earlham 3-0 to Split NCAC Weekend Road Trip

Following a loss to No. 9 ranked Wittenberg University (25-15, 25-22, 25-16) on Friday night, The College of Wooster volleyball team bounced back to take down Earlham College (25-15, 25-16, 25-20) in straight sets Saturday afternoon to split its North Coast Athletic Conference weekend road trip.

The Fighting Scots (12-5, 3-3 NCAC) struggled against the Tigers (10-3, 6-0 NCAC), recording an uncharacteristic .055 hitting percentage as they only tallied 23 kills on 109 total attacks. First-year Melissa Morgan led the team with seven kills and added seven digs, and senior KateLynn Riley chipped in with six kills while totaling two block assists, along with sophomore setter Lizzi Beal.

On Saturday, Wooster was much improved, steamrolling past the Quakers (3-16, 1-5 NCAC) in the opening set and taking the next two with relative ease as well. Morgan and sophomore Meredith Kiefer would lead Wooster's attacking efforts, both tallying nine kills, which for Kiefer was a season-high output. Beal distributed a game-high 32 assists in the win, and freshman libero Kelley Johnson added nine digs.

Wooster will look to improve its conference standing this Friday when it travels to Oberlin College for a 7 p.m. start.
