Wooster Falls to Heidelberg in Volleyball Season Opener

The College of Wooster opened its season on the road Tuesday and dropped three consecutive sets (24-26, 21-25, 18-25) to Heidelberg University at Tiffin, Ohio.

The Fighting Scots, who finished second in the North Coast Athletic Conference last season, topped the Student Princes in hitting percentage and pushed them to the brink in the opening set. Heidelberg would hold on to win, though – and then take the next two sets – thanks in large to Vanessa Haase's 11-kills, and Morgan Magers game-high 33 assists.

KateLynn Riley led the Scots with a team-high nine kills and nine digs, while also matching Sarah Lorch with four total blocks. Sophomore setter Lizzi Beal was solid in managing the attack as she dished out 21 assists, and also chipped in with two service aces.

Wooster will be back in action this weekend when it travels to Delaware, Ohio for the Bishop Invitational.
