The College of Wooster recorded a sweep over Franciscan University of Steubenville on Wednesday evening, but it had to earn it, as the Fighting Scots edged out the Barons in three highly-competitive sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) to take the non-conference volleyball tilt at Steubenville, Ohio.

The Scots (2-3) jumped out to a large lead in the opening set, but the Barons (1-4) battled back to make it close in the end, and then carried over that momentum to push Wooster to the brink in the next two sets as well.

Ultimately, Sarah Roth served the last three points of the third set, including an ace that gave Wooster a 24-21 lead, and then Paige Parker put down the winning kill to finish off Wooster's hard-fought victory.

Erica Skillman continued her strong play with a team-leading 11 kills, and also added eight assists and six digs. Parker (5 kills) and Lydia Webster (4 kills) were also productive hitters in the sweep.

On the defensive side, Kaitlin Banko led the Scots with 18 digs, while Parker (9 digs) and Rachel Sell (8 digs) did their part to halt Franciscan's attack.

Wooster will be back in action this weekend when it competes in the Marcia French Memorial Tournament at Berea, Ohio.
