The College of Wooster got off to a strong start at the Marcia French Memorial Invitational, sweeping Medaille College 3-0 on Friday, but the Fighting Scots were unable to notch another victory in their next three attempts, posting a 1-3 record at the annual volleyball event hosted by Baldwin Wallace University at Berea, Ohio.

The Scots powered past Medaille (25-16, 25-23, 25-21) with a balanced attack that saw Erica Skillman (7 kills), Paige Parker (5 kills), and Lydia Webster (5 kills) lead the hitters, while Brittany Nicholson (7 assists) and Rachel Sell (6 assists) handled the majority of the setting duties.

Defensively, Kaitlin Banko picked up 17 digs, and Zoe Zwegat recorded four block assists as part of a 13-block weekend (2 solo, 11 assists).

In Friday's nightcap, the Scots were tripped up by Geneva College (22-25, 14-25, 20-25), and then Saturday, Wooster came up short against Baldwin Wallace (20-25, 9-25, 24-26) and Westminster College (11-25, 24-26, 21-25) despite pushing both teams to sets that ended 24-26.

For the weekend, Skillman and Parker were neck and neck with 26 and 25 kills, respectively, and both contributed in many other areas as well. Skillman added 13 assists and 24 digs, while Parker chipped in 30 digs, which was second only to Banko's 61, and was also the team-leader at the service line (5 aces) on her way to earning a spot on the all-tournament team.

Webster was also a factor at the net, with 18 kills and eight total blocks (1 solo, 7 assists).

Other notable weekend totals include Anna Emmick's seven kills and seven block assists, Catherine Benton's seven kills, Nicholson and Sell's 34 and 28 assists, respectively, and Lois Kimmel's five block assists.

The Scots will look to get back into the win column next weekend when they compete in the Mount Union Purple Raider Classic at Alliance, Ohio.
