WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster volleyball team used a season-high .333 hitting percentage to sweep North Coast Athletic Conference foe Allegheny College 25-14, 25-19, 27-25 on Wednesday evening in the Fighting Scots' last home game of the regular season at Timken Gymnasium.

The offense was the story in this one, as the Scots (9-20, 3-5 NCAC) played their most efficient volleyball of the year, led by Erica Skillman and her 17 kills and one error on 33 swings (.485). Catherine Benton recorded a .643 hitting percentage with 10 kills and one error on only 14 swings, while Paige Parker and Lydia Webster each chipped in seven kills with one error apiece.

Wooster jumped out to a quick lead over the Gators (8-18, 1-7 NCAC) in the opening set, as it led 7-1, and then pushed the cushion to double-digits at 14-4. The Scots cruised after that, and for the first time this season, they did not commit a single hitting error in a set while smacking down 16 kills.

The second set was much closer, and was tied at 10-10, but Wooster used three-straight service aces from Parker to take a 20-15 advantage, and then closed out the set on top.

Wooster trailed late in the third set, 15-19, until Skillman rattled off three kills in a row, and then Benton delivered a fourth to knot the set at 19-19. The teams traded points down the stretch, with Wooster edging out the Gators 27-25 with one last kill from Skillman.

Just as impressive as the hitters were, so was setter Brittany Nicholson, as she passed out a career-high 42 assists in just three sets.

Parker played libero in the third set, helping her lead the team with 11 digs, while Kaitlin Banko added 10, and Nicholson eight.

The Scots will wrap up their regular season with a road match against Case Western Reserve University (14-15) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
