The College of Wooster volleyball team was right there with Case Western Reserve University in each set, but ultimately, the Fighting Scots were edged out 25-20, 25-17, and 25-22 on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale at Cleveland, Ohio.

The Scots (9-21) recorded a solid hitting percentage at .222, but the Spartans (15-15) overcame it with their own .283 clip.

Erica Skillman led the Black and Gold with eight kills, with Catherine Benton (5), Lydia Webster (5), and Paige Parker (4) rounding out the attack. Brittany Nicholson passed out the majority of the assists with 16, although Rachel Sell chipped in six to go along with her career-high four service aces.

Over on the defensive side of the ball, Kaitlin Banko led the way with 13 digs, while Zoe Zwegat added five total blocks coming on one solo and four assists.

The Scots will now turn their attention to the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, where they will meet Denison University (19-7, 6-2 NCAC) in the quarterfinal round Friday at 4 p.m. at Springfield, Ohio.
