Scots One of Top Academic Teams in Nation

For the seventh year in a row, The College of Wooster has been honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the Team Academic Award, and like last year, the Fighting Scots' cumulative grade-point average ranked inside the top-10 in NCAA Div. III.

The Team Academic Award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 GPA during the academic year. Wooster has been recognized every year under head coach Sarah Davis' guidance.

For the 2013-14 school year, the Scots' volleyball team recorded a 3.61 GPA, the seventh highest of the 126 NCAA Div. III programs that received the award. This coming after Wooster was fifth in the nation with a 3.63 GPA a season ago.

Five of Wooster's 12 players earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in at least one semester, including seniors Catherine Benton, Paige Parker, Erica Skillman, and Zoe Zwegat, along with first-year Laura Sherer. In addition, Skillman and Zwegat were chosen by the College to receive two of its most prestigious awards, as Skillman garnered the David A. Guldin Award (outstanding female scholar athlete) and Zwegat the Dan F. Lockhart Award (outstanding senior).
