WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster volleyball team continued working out its kinks in its home opener Wednesday evening, as Muskingum University went on to win 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-17) over the young Fighting Scots at Timken Gymnasium.

With just three upperclassmen on the roster, the Scots (0-5) have gotten off to a slow start this season, but they were certainly competitive against the unbeaten Fighting Muskies (5-0).

Wooster led 17-16 in the opening set and was down by just four (22-18) late in the second set, but each time Muskingum was able to pull out the victory. Overall, the Scots had 32 kills on the night, compared to 35 for the Muskies, but it was their attacking errors (25) that ultimately did them in.

Leading the offensive attack was Ksenia Klue with 10 kills and a .217 hitting percentage, while Savannah Moore (8 kills) and Lydia Webster (8 kills) also put up solid numbers. Brittany Nicholson (15 assists) and Sydney Virgin (13 assists) continued to share setting duties, and the latter made an impressive pancake dig that caught Muskingum off guard and led to a Wooster kill in the first set.

Defensive highlights include Rachel Sell's team-high eight digs, while Webster (3 blocks) and Mayia Karayianni (2 blocks) were active at the net.

The Scots will look to get into the win column this weekend at the Marcia French Memorial Invitational which takes places on the campus of Baldwin Wallace University.
