WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster played its best volleyball of the season at the Kilt Classic, as the Fighting Scots picked up convincing wins over Oberlin College on Friday, and Franciscan University of Steubenville and Kalamazoo College on Saturday, on their way to a 3-1 record at their own two-day, six-team tournament at Timken Gymnasium.

The Scots (4-9) were one of three teams to win three games, along with Bluffton University (3-1) and Muskingum University (3-1), while Kalamazoo went 1-1, Oberlin 1-3, and Franciscan 0-4.

On Friday, Wooster took down North Coast Athletic Conference foe Oberlin (5-6) in a lengthy four-setter by a 3-1 margin (25-23, 27-25, 28-30, 25-19). Later that evening, the Scots were tripped up against Muskingum (9-5) in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-23.

Wooster bounced back in a big way Saturday, as it swept Franciscan (4-8) by set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-18 and Kalamazoo (6-4) by a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 tally, to put an exclamation point on an impressive weekend.

The victory over Kalamazoo was the highlight for Wooster, as the Hornets were coming off a win against an 11-2 Bluffton squad in the match prior, only to have Wooster make short work of them to close out the tournament.

Savannah Moore had a strong series, as she paced the Scots with 39 kills, including 13 in the setback to Muskingum, and also ranked third with 19 digs. Lydia Webster nearly matched Moore with 33 kills, highlighted by her own 13-kill outing against Oberlin, while racking up 16 total blocks (4 solo, 12 assists).

Other noteworthy attacking performances came from Ksenia Klue and Megan Mey in Wooster's signature win over Kalamazoo, as they both totaled 10 kills and just two errors in highly-efficient stat lines.

Setting up the attackers for success were Sydney Virgin (66 assists) and Brittany Nicholson (47 assists). Virgin was also dangerous at the net with her "setter dumps," which led to 14 kills, while Nicholson chipped in three aces at the service line and 13 digs.

Defensively, Anna Emmick was second on the team with seven total blocks, while libero Rachel Sell (50 digs) and Laura Sherer (21 digs) stood out along the back row. Sell also added a team-high six service aces and was named to the all-tournament team.

Next up, the Scots will get another shot at Baldwin Wallace University (8-6) in a home match on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
