The College of Wooster volleyball team cruised to its first North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the season Wednesday evening, as the Fighting Scots outplayed Kenyon College across the board on their way to a three-set sweep at Gambier, Ohio.

The last time these two teams met was during last year's NCAC Tournament, when the lower-seeded Ladies (5-19, 0-4 NCAC) upset the Scots (7-15, 1-3 NCAC) in the consolation semifinal round. Wooster got some revenge tonight, as it came out on top in every major statistically category for one of its most dominant performances of the season.

Following somewhat narrow 25-23 and 25-19 triumphs in the first and second sets, respectively, the Scots turned it up a notch in the third set, culminating in an Anna Emmick solo block that ended it at 25-17. Savannah Moore tied for the team-lead with 10 kills on the night, six which came during the decisive final frame.

As a team, Wooster recorded a .185 hitting percentage, behind an excellent effort from Lydia Webster. The sophomore standout totaled 10 kills with just one error on 21 swings for a season-high .429 hitting percentage. Junior setter Brittany Nicholson was solid in guiding the attack, with 18 assists on the Scots' 28 kills.

Also of note, the team had 11 service aces, with Rachel Sell (4 aces), Ksenia Klue (3 aces), and Webster (3 aces) sparking the onslaught, while its 11 blocks were a season-high, led by Webster (5 blocks) and Emmick (3 blocks).

Wooster will have a shot at its first three-match win streak of the season when it visits Denison University (10-11, 2-3 NCAC) next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
