Wooster Falls to OWU, Despite Strong Second Set

Savannah Moore
Savannah Moore

Savannah Moore reached double-digit kills for the ninth time this season, and The College of Wooster put up some impressive team numbers in the second set, but in the end, Ohio Wesleyan University was victorious over the Fighting Scots, 3-0, on Friday evening at Delaware, Ohio.

It was an uncharacteristic result for the Scots (7-17, 1-5 NCAC), who had won 13 straight against the Battling Bishops (15-9, 4-3 NCAC) entering tonight's match, but there were still some highlights to take away.

One was the efforts of Moore, as the sophomore transfer totaled a team-high 11 kills, which went along with her second-highest hitting percentage of the year (.259).

Another highlight was the Scots' strong performance in the second set, where they hit .406 with 17 kills and just four errors on 32 swings. That was almost enough to get past the Bishops, but they were edged out by three points, as part of a 25-13, 25-22, 25-13 setback.

Also notable, Lydia Webster had seven kills, Brittany Nicholson passed out 21 assists, and Rachel Sell paced the back row with 11 digs.

Wooster will be right back on the court tomorrow when they host Oberlin College (10-15, 1-5 NCAC) for a 1 p.m. start at Timken Gymnasium.
