The College of Wooster played an extremely competitive match with North Coast Athletic Conference opponent Allegheny College, and had the Gators at match-point in the second set, but the home team rallied to get past the Fighting Scots, 3-0, on Wednesday evening at Meadville, Pa.

Following a slow start, the Scots (7-19, 1-7 NCAC) bounced back in a big way in the second set. Wooster led several times down the stretch, including at 25-24 and 28-27, but Allegheny (17-12, 3-5 NCAC) managed to narrowly escape by a 30-28 count. The Gators also won the opening set, 25-10, and the third set, 25-22.

Lydia Webster paced the attack with 10 kills, while Savannah Moore added eight kills and eight digs and Ksenia Klue chipped in with seven kills. Anna Emmick was also a factor, as she put down a season-high six kills and added four blocks – her seventh match this season with four or more blocks.

Wooster's assists were split up between Brittany Nicholson (20) and Sydney Virgin (12), while Rachel Sell made 10 digs.

Also noteworthy, the Scots registered a .324 hitting percentage in the third set, one of their highest marks of the year.

Wooster will wrap up regular season action with a non-conference tilt against fellow northeast Ohio school, Case Western Reserve University (15-10), on Saturday at Timken Gymnasium. The match will start at 2 p.m., or 30 minutes after the neutral site match between Case Western Reserve and Denison University, which begins at noon.
