The College of Wooster volleyball team continued its hot start to the season with a 4-0 weekend at the Bearcat Challenge hosted by Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.

Backed by two triple-doubles from all-tournament team senior Savannah Moore, Wooster (5-0) swept Franciscan University (25-5, 25-19, 28-26), topped Muskingum University (11-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-21) and Waynesburg University (25-16, 22-25, 25-14, 25-15) in four sets, and then capped the weekend with a five-set triumph over Frostburg State University (17-25, 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 15-8).

Wooster started its weekend, much like it finished Tuesday's match - with a big win. The College raced out to a 6-0 lead over Franciscan behind three kills from junior Megan Mey. The Scots pushed the lead to 21-4 when a kill from junior Anna Emmick sparked an 8-0 run towards the end of the frame.

The College was firing on all cylinders in the second set against Franciscan, when kills from four different hitters led to a 5-0 run and an 11-4 lead. Franciscan closed its deficit to five with a kill from Maria Ciola at 18-13, but Wooster would score the next two points, pushing its lead back to seven.

Wooster scored the first point in set three, but Franciscan would hold the lead until a kill from junior Lydia Webster put the Scots up 19-18. A kill from Webster enabled the Scots to ward off set point for Franciscan before the Baron's Becca Haven notched an attack error to clinch the match.

Webster continued her stellar play against Muskingum, helping Wooster to get back on track after dropping its first set of the young season. The outside hitter recorded back-to-back kills early in the second frame against the Fighting Muskies, sparking a 4-0 run to put Wooster up 7-3. Two more kills from Webster's hot hand capped a second 4-0 stretch to put the Scots back on top after the Muskies had tied the set at 10. Wooster led by as many as six down the stretch.

The Scots turned to sophomore Ksenia Klue in the third set against Muskingum. The outside hitter came through with five of the team's 11 kills in the frame, including two straight to help the College open a five-point lead at 20-15.

A balanced effort helped Wooster to an early lead against Waynesburg, as seven Scots recorded a kill in the first frame, led by Klue's four. The balance carried over to the second set as the Scots' jumped out to a 6-1 lead behind kills from four different hitters. The lead would not hold as the Yellow Jackets would battle back to take the lead for good at 18-17. A late 6-1 run by Waynesburg would prevent a comeback bid.

Continuing its early-season theme of strong starts, the Scots used a 6-0 run to open up a 12-point lead at 15-3 in the third set. The fourth frame featured a 5-1 Wooster advantage, with the Scots later using a 5-0 swing to help close out the match.

Frostburg used a 10-0 run to turn a five-point deficit into a five-point advantage midway through the first set in the College's final match of the weekend. Wooster rebounded to tie the match at one set each, taking advantage of four attack errors over the final seven points in set two. After trading identical 25-19 scores in sets three and four, Wooster capped the match in the fifth set with a double-block by Emmick and Webster.

Moore recorded the College's first triple-double since Lizzi Beal did so against Alleghey during the 2011 season. Moore recorded 15 assists, 12 digs, and 10 kills in the win over Muskingum. The all-tournament honoree would add a second triple-double against Frostburg with 16 digs, 13 assists, and 11 kills.

Sydney Virgin recorded the College's lone double-double on the weekend. The sophomore setter distributed 20 assists to couple with 10 digs against Waynesburg.

Webster would lead the attack with 42 kills on the weekend and would tie with Emmick for the team lead with eight aces. Defensively, the Scots were paced by first-year Gabrielle Basinski and junior Laura Sherer would combined for 121 digs, as the Scots' opposition would hit .093 for the two-day tournament.

Wooster remains on the road for a 7 p.m. tilt at Wilmington College (1-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
