The College of Wooster volleyball team was swept by regionally-ranked Case Western Reserve University (25-17, 25-16, 25-21) in its season finale on Saturday afternoon in Cleveland.

CWRU's Karina Bondelid served up a trio of aces as part of an early 9-0 run in the first set, enabling the Spartans (22-5) to open up a 10-2 lead. Two kills by Anna Emmick cut Wooster's (12-14) deficit to five at 20-15 and 21-16, but the Spartans won the ensuing side-out point both times.

An 8-1 swing by the hosts in the second frame enabled CWRU to open up a seven-point cushion. The Fighting Scots would again pull the gap to five at 21-16, but the Spartans rattled off four straight points to close the set.

Wooster tied the third set at 17 after a double-block from Ksenia Klue and Lydia Webster, and would again tie the frame at 18 on a kill from Webster. Emmick and Ashley Plassard helped key the momentum with two straight double-blocks to jump-start a 4-0 Wooster run. CWRU would respond with a 3-0 swing moments later to regain the momentum.

Webster led the College with nine kills on the afternoon. Senior Savannah Moore distributed 14 assists to couple with eight kills and five digs in her final collegiate match. Fellow senior Brittany Nicholson added 10 assists and seven digs.

Wooster ended its season with a four-win improvement from a season ago. The Scots started the season with their best start since 1969.
