All-Around Contributions Yield Pair of Wins for Wooster in Pennsylvania

The College of Wooster volleyball team continued its run of success in Pennsylvania as the Fighting Scots picked up a pair of wins on Saturday at Grove City College. In the opener, Wooster (17-7) swept aside Westminster College (Pa.) 25-13, 25-11, 29-27, and then rallied back after dropping the first set to Grove City to win the match 22-25, 25-13, 25-13, 25-23.

Against Westminster (13-15), Wooster tallied nine blocks in the match, while individually, junior Mayia Karagianni and sophomore Ashley Plassard combined for nine swats up front. Freshmen Kyana Harris and Marina Roski each added a pair of blocks, as did senior Anna Emmick. Additionally, the Scots' dominant control at the net played a large factor in Wooster holding Westminster to a .000 hitting percentage in the match.

In the match with the Titans, the Scots hit .248 as a team, and 13 different student-athletes recorded a kill. Individually, Karagianni led the way with eight, a total that was backed up by Plassard's six and Emmick's five.

Notable, Harris recorded her second career double-double in the first match of the day with 16 assists and a team-high 12 digs.

Westminster was led by Logan Daggy's 11 digs and six kills.

In the second game of the twin bill, Wooster racked up 11 blocks to finish its four-match week with 50. Individually, senior Lydia Webster led the way with six blocks while Emmick had four, and both Karagianni and senior Megan Mey had three.

Wooster had two student-athletes in double figures against Grove City (10-18) in kills in junior Ksenia Klue (12) and Emmick (11).

Of note, junior Taylor Mathews recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 36 assists and 11 digs, while sophomores Gabrielle Basinski (21) and Jordan Murray (12) joined Mathews with double-digit digs.

Jamie Robatisin recorded a double-double for Wolverines with 14 digs and 11 kills.

Notable, nine of Wooster's 17 wins have come from matches played in Pennsylvania this season.

Next, Wooster (2-5 North Coast Athletic Conference) closes out the conference portion of the schedule with a 7:30 p.m. tilt at Kenyon College (15-9, 4-3 NCAC) on Wednesday.
