The Fighting Scots' volleyball team tuned-up for next week's North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament with a final regular-season non-conference tilt where host Case Western Reserve University sweept aside the Fighting Scots 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 on Saturday afternoon at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland.

Wooster (14-14) sophomore Erica Roberts found success up front in the first set with four kills on eight swings, while senior Taylor Mathews nearly had a double-double in the match's opening frame thanks to 10 assists and six digs.

A service ace by junior Gabrielle Basinski came on the heels of a block by classmates Marija Cyvas and Mayia Karagianni that pulled Wooster within three at 16-13 in the second set. Two points later, Wooster again was within striking distance after a kill by sophomore Anna Medema, but CWRU (17-11) followed with a 6-0 run to make it 23-14.

Wooster tied the third set up at 21 and 22 on kills from senior Ksenia Klue, and that capped a seven-point comeback as the Scots trailed 14-7 earlier in the set. Back-to-back kills by CWRU's Karley King and Emma Briggs brought the set to match-point before Briggs finished off the win with her fifth kill of the match.

Mathews logged her fifth double-double over the last six matches with 29 assists and 14 digs. Klue led the way offensively with 10 kills, and supported that with eight digs.

The Sctots added six aces on the afternoon, three of which were served up by junior Jordan Murray.

Anna Jaskoviak, King, and Brianna Lemon each recorded 10 kills, while Lemon added a match-high 15 digs.

Wooster (2-6 NCAC), the seventh seed for the NCAC Tournament, opens up play at Wittenberg University on Friday, Nov. 3 at 3:30 p.m. against sixth-seeded Hiram College (17-9, 3-5 NCAC) with the winner advancing to play third-seeded Ohio Wesleyan University (15-7, 6-2 NCAC) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
