The College of Wooster volleyball team capped a 5-0 week with a pair of sweeps on Saturday, and only dropped one set on the weekend while going 4-0 at the Northwest Pennsylvania Challenge, hosted by Pennsylvania State University Behrend in Erie, Pa.

Senior Ashley Plassard recorded seven of her match-high 12 kills in the decisive set in Friday's opener, a match in which Wooster (7-2) topped Marietta College 22-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25-23. Plassard, who hit .435 against the Pioneers, added four blocks, two digs, and an ace. The Scots held the Pioneers to a .085 hitting percentage, thanks in large part to a match-high 17 digs turned in by senior Gabrielle Basinski.

Wooster was firing on all cylinders during Friday night's 25-13, 25-17, 25-21 sweep over Saint Vincent College. Wooster nearly hit .600 in the opening set, as the Scots smashed down 16 kills on 27 swings, and the Black and Gold didn't have a single miscue in the error column. Overall, Wooster hit .351 for the match. Sophomore Meghan Botsch distributed 35 assists to pair with five digs. Offensively, Plassard led the way with 11 kills, while senior McKenzie Reese and first-year Katie Billetdeaux combined for 17. In fact, Reese finished a kill shy of a double-double, and had 11 digs on the stat sheet.

Billetdeaux's strong play carried over to Saturday, as the rookie's nine kills marked the Scots' team-high during a 25-8, 25-13, 25-15 win over D'Youville College. The middle blocker added three blocks, and overall, the Scots had five for the match. Other noteworthy stats included six kills by junior Anna Medema.

Billetdeaux and Plassard combined for 30 kills and five blocks in the weekend finale, a match in which Wooster won 25-17, 25-21, 25-19 over host Behrend. Three Scots tallied double-digit digs, including Basinski, who had a match-best 18.

Plassard's 3.38 kills per set led the Scots on the weekend. Overall, Wooster had three student-athletes average over two kills per set, including Reese, who was the Scots' representative on the all-tournament team.

Botsch served up a team-high seven aces and averaged 10.4 assists per set.

Next, Wooster hosts its annual Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic Sept. 14-15, in what will mark the first matches at newly-renovated Timken Gymnasium.
