Taylor Mathews, a 2018 alumna, is in her fifth season as an assistant coach for The College of Wooster's volleyball team.

Mathews helped guide the Fighting Scots to the program's first appearance in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament championship match since 1985 in 2021, and the program logged its first 10-match winning streak since 1984. Two Scots earned NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships and Wooster had a pair of College Sports Communicators Academic All-Americans ® during the 2021 season.

As a student-athlete, Mathews made an immediate impact after transferring in from Muskingum University as a junior. In two seasons, she dished out 1,470 assists, the seventh-most in program history. As a junior, the lefty served up seven aces at Kenyon College, which at the time tied the single-match program record for the current scoring era, while as a senior, Mathews racked up 44 aces, the fourth-most in the 25-point rally-scoring era.

A three-sport standout at Dover High School, Mathews was a two-time All-Ohio selection in volleyball and helped the team to the state semifinals as a senior.

Mathews graduated with a bachelor’s in psychology.
