O'Neil Leads Wooster at GLCA Championship

Men's 8K Results | Women's 5K Results

Led by Colleen O'Neil, The College of Wooster women's cross country team took third-place at the Great Lakes Colleges Association championship Saturday afternoon, which included runners from Albion College, Denison University, Kalamazoo College, Kenyon College, Oberlin College and host Ohio Wesleyan University, while the men's team finished fifth overall.

Competing in a 5K against 110 other runners, O'Neil crossed the finish line in fourth-place in 19:20.0 to highlight Wooster's results. Also securing top-16 finishes were Meredith Shaul in 11th (19:48.2) and Sarah Appleton in 16th (20:00.9). Rounding out Wooster's top performers were Chelsea Denlinger, who finished 22nd with a time of 20:17.4, and Lauren Buyan, who took 27th in 20:31.3.

In the men's 8K, Luke Hutchings-Goetz narrowly missed a top-10 finish with his 27:34.9 effort that placed him 12th overall. The Scots had three others join Hutchings-Goetz among the top-25, including Kevin DeGroot, who took 17th in 27:52.7. Micah Caunter (28:03.0) and Michael Terribile (28:26.0) crossed the finish line in 20th and 25th, respectively.

Wooster's harriers will be back in action next Saturday at the Wittenberg Inviational.
