Joe David has been on the verge of breaking out for The College of Wooster's men's cross country team for quite some time, and it appears to be happening now, as the junior had one of the best runs of his career over the weekend en route to North Coast Athletic Conference Runner-of-the-Week honors.

Competing against 116 other runners at the Ohio Wesleyan University Invitational, David completed the 8K course in 26:20.4, which led Wooster and was good for fourth-place overall. It also helped the Fighting Scots win the team championship at the event, as they defeated nine other schools, including three from the NCAC.

David's time was 35 seconds quicker than the 26:55.9 he posted on the same course exactly a year ago.

Wooster is off from formal competition this weekend, but will return Sept. 20 at the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville, Ohio.
