The College of Wooster women's cross country team came in sixth-place while competing among a diverse group of 17 teams spanning NCAA Div. II and III varsity programs to Div. I running clubs at the Otterbein Invitational in Westerville, Ohio, on Saturday, and the Fighting Scot men, who were without their No. 1 runner, came in 10th overall.

Running a 6K competitively for the first time this season, Wooster was paced by Mackenzie Kellar as the sophomore crossed the line in 16th overall out of the 209 participants, posting a 23:35.3 time. Coming in very close together were teammates Emani Kelley, Kayla Zboran, and Collier Summay, taking 34th (24:24.2), 40th (24:38.9), and 42nd (24:42.7), respectively.

The Scots' fifth contributor to the team points was Sophie Hawkins, who finished 68th (25:34.1), while Katherine Wittig was right behind her in 73rd (25:37.9). Notable, three of their five scorers were first-years (Kelley, Summay, Hawkins).

In the men's 8K race, Wooster received an outstanding effort from Alex Chabraja. The junior covered the course in a time of 26:42.3 as he averaged 5:22 per mile, and that put him in 11th-place among the 232 competitors.

Brian Lief continued his fine freshman season by notching 36th overall (27:29.0). Only three freshmen from Div. III teams came in ahead of him.

The Scots' remaining point producers were all among the top-100, with Jason Solinsky crossing 59th (27:57.0), Albert Darling 79th (28:14.5), and Herbert Sizek 93rd (28:33.6). Freshman teammate Simon Weyer was right behind in 96th (28:36.3).

Wooster will be off from competition next weekend, as it prepares for the All-Ohio Championships on Oct. 2.
