Wooster Tunes Up For Regional Meet at Annual Twilight 5K Challenge

WOOSTER, Ohio – Just eight days away from the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championships, The College of Wooster men's and women's cross country teams took to the Carl Munson Track at John P. Papp Stadium on Friday evening for the annual Twilight 5K Challenge, along with Grove City College and Hiram College's club team.

The men's team stole the show taking the top four places to cap the non-scoring meet. Junior all-conference performer Blake Pecoraro led the quartet with a winning time of 15:52.0. He was followed by Jacob Denbeaux (16:14.0), who edged teammate Brian Lief out by one second. Albert Darling crossed fourth at 16:34.

Wooster's Herbert Sizek, Kent Nakamoto, and David Westcott were the next three Fighting Scots to finish taking eighth-, ninth-, and 10th-place respectively.

Junior all-conference honoree Kayla Zboran cruised to the win in the women's race with a time of 18:29. In fact, she would finish nearly half a lap ahead of teammate Mackenzie Kellar, who earned runner-up honors at 19:15.

Collier Summay was next for the Fighting Scots with a fifth-place time of 19:42, while Emani Kelley was right behind nine seconds later. Sophie Hawkins added a top-10 finish, tying for ninth at 20:21.

Wooster returns to action at the regional competition next Saturday, Nov. 14, in Terre Haute, Ind.
