Scots Cruise at Annual Twilight 5K Ahead of Regional Meet

WOOSTER, Ohio – In a prelude to next weekend's NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional Championships, The College of Wooster men's and women's cross country teams played host to five other participating schools for the annual Twilight 5K at John P. Papp Stadium on Friday evening.

The Fighting Scots took first place in both events, including a 1-2-3 sweep on the men's side.

Allegheny College, Grove City College, Hiram College, Oberlin College and Salem International University all participated in meet.

For the men, sophomore Jacob Denbeaux finished first with a time 15:48, followed by first-year Aedan Pettit (15:53.8) while sophomore Jackson Feinknopf took home third-place honors with a 15:57 clip.

Junior Geoffrey Carney-Knisely (16:21.6) and sophomore Brian Lief (16:32.1) rounded out the top-ten finishers for the Scots, placing sixth and ninth, respectively.

Senior and two-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference runner Kayla Zboran clocked a first-place time of 18:29.6, exactly 16 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Heidi Hoffman of Grove City.

Zboran took home first-place honors in last year's event with a near-identical time of 18:29.

Junior Ashley Ferguson was next for Wooster with a 13th-place time of 19:39.8.

Wooster participates in the regional competition next Saturday, Nov. 12, in Holland, Mich.
