Kellar’s Top-25 Run, Men’s Wire-to-Wire Finish Highlight Wooster’s Outing at Otterbein Invitational

The College of Wooster cross country teams took part in the Otterbein Invitational at Westerville, Ohio on Saturday morning, as the men and women placed third and sixth, respectively.

On the women's side, Oberlin College won the seven-team women's meet with 38 points, followed by runner-up Kenyon College (49). Wooster finished with 183 points.

Senior Mackenzie Kellar led Wooster with a sub-25 minute (24:58.5) race over the 6,000-meter course, good for 23rd overall among collegiate varsity runners. First-year Zoe Covey, who put in a clip of 26:06, finished 19 spots behind Kellar for a top-45 finish.

Rounding out the top-five team finishers were senior Ashley Ferguson (26:24.6), first-year Emma Busch (27:08.3), and sophomore Cobi Warstler (27:21.6). Sophomores Audrey Cordova (28:13) and Sadie Farmer (28:27.7) finished as Wooster's sixth- and seventh-place runners.

On the men's side, Otterbein claimed first-place in the eight-team field with 33 points, followed by runner-up Ohio Wesleyan University (97), who edged Wooster (98) by one point.

Junior David Westcott turned in a top-10 individual finish (27:43.3) on the men's 8K course, followed by respective 13th- and 14th-place runs from juniors Brian Lief (28:02.4) and Jackson Feinknopf (28:11.3).

Rounding out the field's top-35 were Wooster sophomore Miki Rae, who crossed at 29:14.3 for a 5:53-per-mile pace while senior Geoffrey Carney-Knisely followed moments behind with a clip of 29:24.7.

First-years Jackson Todd (30:08.5) and Aidan Enright (30:11.8) claimed sixth- and seventh-place team finishes.

Up next, the Scots take a bye week before competing at the All-Ohio Championships at Cedarville, Ohio on Friday, Sept. 29.
