Sub-100 scores from each of the women's runners and a highly competitive front trio for the men highlighted an overall impressive outing at the Jenna Strong Fall Classic for The College of Wooster men's and women's cross country teams on Friday afternoon at Wilmington, Ohio.

Wooster's men placed fifth out of 30 teams, which included programs from across NCAA Div. I, II, and III, in addition to NAIA schools and collegiate running clubs. On the women's end, the Fighting Scots took 12th-place out of the 32-team field.

Speaking of women, each of Wooster's scorers placed within the top 110 overall among the 300-competitor field, headlined by senior Mackenzie Kellar's team-leading time of 20:34.4 over the 4,000-meter course. Senior Ashley Ferguson crossed shortly after with a clip of 20:48.3, five spots back of Kellar for 65th overall.

Other scoring contributions came from first-year Emma Busch (21:15.7), first-year Zoe Covey (21:24.0), and sophomore Cobi Warstler (21:30.1). Busch was the 96th runner to cross while Covey claimed 102nd and Warstler 108th.

On the men's side, Wooster's fifth-place finish came via 207 points, as the top three Scot runners placed 30th or better overall. Junior Brian Lief placed 26th overall out of the 328-competitor field with an 8,000-meter time of 26:52.9. Less than a second behind was classmate Jackson Feinknopf, who crossed at 26:53.5. Rounding out the top-30 trio was junior David Westcott at 26:58.5.

The remaining scorers for Wooster were senior Geoffrey Carney-Knisely (28:03.4) in 81st-place and sophomore Aedan Pettit (28:05.9) in 84th-place.

Up next, Wooster takes a bye week before competing in the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships at Oberlin, Ohio on Oct. 28.
