WOOSTER, Ohio – The College of Wooster baseball team's 2019 season will continue, as the Fighting Scots were among the 16 Pool C (at-large) selections announced by the NCAA when the 58-team championship field was released on Monday afternoon. Additionally, Wooster was selected as one of 16 sites to host a regional this week, with action from Art Murray Field set to take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

"We're really excited and looking forward to showcasing the College and the Fighting Scots baseball program," said head coach Tim Pettorini, the active leader in Div. III victories at 1,239, who is also set to retire at the conclusion of the season.

Wooster (26-12) opens play in the double-elimination regional against the University of Rochester (28-15) on Friday, while Case Western Reserve University (22-13) and Otterbein University (26-16-1) will meet in Friday's other opening-round game. Game times and ticket information will be posted when available.

There are 16 regionals taking place across the country (13 four-team regionals and three best-of-five series). The 16 winners will meet next week at eight sites for a best-of-three games super regional with the eight winners advancing to the 2019 NCAA Div. III World Series, which will be held May 31-June 4 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

This marks Wooster's 31st Div. III tourney appearance, and the Scots sport a 66-64 all-time record in regional and national tournament games. The Scots trail Marietta College (38), Ithaca College (38), and Eastern Connecticut State University (34) when it comes to all-time tournament appearances. Last year, Wooster was one of eight regional winners which advanced to the NCAA Div. III World Series at Appleton, Wis.
