D3baseball.com All-America Release | ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Release

The College of Wooster's Dan Harwood and Harry Witwer-Dukes were named to D3baseball.com's All-America team, as announced by the popular online website dedicated to Div. III baseball on Tuesday. Harwood was a first-team selection at designated hitter, while Witwer-Dukes was named to the site's second-team as a second baseman.

Harwood, who was a second-team D3baseball.com All-American a season ago, led the North Coast Athletic Conference-champion Fighting Scots with a .424 average (70-for-165) this spring. The smooth-swinging left-hander was tops on the team with a .538 on-base percentage, while his .648 slugging percentage ranked behind Witwer-Dukes' team-leading .665. Harwood's 53 runs were tied for the team lead, while he was tops for Wooster with 28 walks and 14 beanballs. Harwood's on-base percentage is currently the ninth-best in Div. III.

Witwer-Dukes thrived in his first full season as a starter en route to becoming the third second baseman in program history to collect D3baseball.com All-America honors (D3baseball.com's All-America team started in 2007). Witwer-Dukes ranked third on the team this spring with a .390 average (64-for-164), while his 56 RBI were tops on the team, and currently rank 11th nationally. Twenty-six of Witwer-Dukes' 64 base knocks went for extra bases, seven of which were round-trippers.

Additionally, the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings announced the Div. III all-region teams on Tuesday, and the Scots were well represented. Harwood and Witwer-Dukes were named to the All-Mideast Region first-team, while seniors Garrett Crum and Jacob Stuursma were both second-team selections, and senior Chandler Dippman was a third-team honoree.

Crum, the eighth Wooster great with at least 200 base knocks and 175 RBI for his career, earned ABCA All-Mideast Region honors for the second straight year. The Scots' first baseman drove in 51 RBI, marking his third consecutive year with at least 50, and he was one of three players with at least 70 hits in 2019. Crum hit .385 (70-for-182) and had a career-best 23-game hitting streak this season.

Wooster didn't miss a beat at shortstop this year, thanks to Stuursma, who slid over to that spot after spending nearly two complete seasons as the Scots' starting second baseman. The senior ranked second on the team with a .395 average (73-for-185), led the team in hits, and tied for the team lead in runs with 53. Stuursma's .475 on-base percentage, 26 walks, 17 doubles, and 48 RBI all ranked as top-four totals on the team.

Dippman's biggest contributions came on the bump, where the pitch-to-contact wizard went 9-3 with a 4.58 ERA over 76 2/3 innings. The right-hander went the distance in four of his 12 starts, which included a two-hit shutout against Wabash College on April 13 and a complete-game effort in a 9-3 win over Case Western Reserve University in the winner-take-all game of the Div. III Wooster Regional.

Harwood and Witwer-Dukes are now up for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors, as first-team ABCA all-region honorees. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America team will be announced the evening of May 30.

Wooster finished the season at 30-15, extended its league-lead in conference championships to 19, and was an at-large selection to the NCAA Div. III Championships.
