Frank Gamble, one of the winningest high school baseball coaches in Ohio history, enters his sixth year as an assistant with The College of Wooster. He serves as a base coach and works closely with the infielders.
Gamble does have prior collegiate experience, having spent three seasons at Furman University in Greenville, S.C. There, he went from a volunteer assistant in 2012 to director of baseball operations the next two (2013-14).
Over his 37 years working in the prep ranks, Gamble won over 600 games (611-371), which ranks among the top-15 in state history, and 50 of his players went on to play collegiately. He spent a 22-year stretch as head coach/athletic director at Massillon Perry High School, and prior to that, 15 years at Tuslaw High School.
For his efforts, Gamble has been inducted into a number of Hall of Fames – Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Association (1998), Stark County Baseball (2001), Northeast Ohio Baseball Coaches Association (2008), and the Tuscarawas County Baseball (2009).
Gamble went to Ashland University, where he graduated with a teaching degree while majoring in sociology and psychology.
Gamble lives in Massillon, Ohio, and has two adult sons, Bill and Brian, who are teachers and the head baseball coaches at Jackson High School and Sandy Valley High School, respectively.
