GRANVILLE, Ohio – The College of Wooster field hockey team's first North Coast Athletic Conference win remained elusive on Saturday morning, as Denison University, the defending conference champion, topped the Fighting Scots 6-0 at Deeds Field-Piper Stadium.

Denison's (8-3, 1-1 NCAC) Charlotte Godfrey deposited her team-leading sixth goal into the cage in the eighth minute on a coast-to-coast play, and the Big Red sustained the offensive pressure with Wooster (3-8, 0-3 NCAC) junior 'keeper Katie Shideler stopping Maya Tumiwa's shot in the 11th minute.

Wooster's Katie Agatucci nearly tied the score in the 27th minute on a breakaway try in transition, but Denison's Teya Adams made a diving save. Junior Sydney Schuster had a look a few seconds later that was blocked, and Denison capitalized on the ensuing transition with Abby Scully knocking in a pass from Meg Baylis that made it 2-0 with 2:01 to go before halftime.

In the third, the Big Red's Charlotte Happel knocked in a pass from Abby Scully, who was first to a rebound after a penalty corner shot was blocked en route to the cage.

The Big Red tacked on three insurance goals in the fourth, with Baylis and Happel finishing the contest with two goals each.

Denison finished with a 24-6 edge on shots and a 9-1 advantage on corners.

Shideler tallied 10 saves, while Adams had one.

Next, Wooster's back at home to take on Earlham College (7-5, 1-0 NCAC) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 19.
