Scots Tie For Seventh In Own Nye Intercollegiate

Andrew DeLaat tees off during Saturday's action at the Wooster Country Club.

The College of Wooster men's golf team tied for seventh in an 11-team field of the Nye Intercollegiate, hosted by The College at The Wooster Country Club.

Rain shortened the event for the second consecutive year. After a full round Saturday, weather forced the final three teams off the course, and the first nine on Sunday were the only holes scored.

Denison University won the event, shooting a 437, and was 16 strokes ahead of second place Thomas More University. Wooster and Earlham College shot a 472 to tie for seventh.

Wooster shot a 314 on Saturday and entered Sunday in eighth place. They then shot a 158 on Sunday.

Evan Ferrara led the Scots shooting a 113, five over par, to tie for seventh.

Mac Bellovich tied for 32nd shooting a 119. Andrew DeLaat and David Roney shot a 120 to round out the team scoring.

Individually, Ben Foltz and Evan Jenkins also shot a 120. Ric Reynolds shot a 128.

Ben Scherman from Denison and Roni Shin from Baldwin Wallace University were co-medalists.

Next, Wooster travels to Earlham for its Spring Invitational.
