WOOSTER, Ohio - The College of Wooster men's soccer team started
its 2008 North Coast Athletic Conference schedule on a positive
note Saturday, prevailing 1-0 at Carl Dale Memorial Field over
Wabash College. With the win, the third in a row and fourth in the
last five matches, Wooster moves to 4-3-1 overall, including a
3-0-1 home mark.
Wooster lit up the board during the 54th minute via a Scott Buckwald goal on a pass across the box from Karl Ruter, and that
held up as the only score of the game. It marked the junior's
fourth goal this season and eighth score of his career.
Statistically, the Little Giants ended up with a slight edge in
shots (14-12) as well as corner kicks (6-1). In goal for Wooster,
freshmen Taylor Takacs recorded seven saves for his first career
shutout, while Wabash's Pat West tallied four stops.
Wooster returns to non-league play as it hosts Case Western
Reserve University (4-2) for a Tuesday afternoon match-up at 4:30
p.m.
