Late Rally Falls Short in 2-1 Loss

BEREA, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's soccer team ran out of time Tuesday as they fell to Baldwin Wallace University 2-1.

Wooster had multiple chances to make something happen as they outshot the Yellow Jackets 15-10 and won the corner kick advantage 10-4. Yet, the Fighting Scots ended with just two shots on goal, including one from Manny Burton.

Baldwin Wallace got on the board in the 21st minute when Danny Ruple scored on a strike from about 15 yards out. Cannon Dees had the assist.

Then in the second half, Dees put the Yellow Jackets up two with a goal in the 62nd minute.

A bit of luck came Wooster's way when Baldwin Wallace scored an own goal in the 78th minute to make it a 2-1 game.

The Fighting Scots had one last opportunity to even the score with seconds remaining. A throw in from the sideline put the ball the front of the goal but time expired before the Scots could get the ball in the net.

This is the second straight year the Yellow Jackets have gotten the better of the Scots after a 3-2 double overtime win in 2017.

Baldwin Wallace improves their record to 2-1, while Wooster drops to 1-1. The Scots will host Grove City College on Thursday.
