WOOSTER, Ohio -- The College of Wooster men's soccer team took an early lead against the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford and never gave it up in a 4-0 win on Saturday.
Right away junior Max Rochester put Wooster ahead in the first minute after being awarded a penalty kick and sinking it for his second goal of the season. Five minutes later Rochester found sophomore Evan Lewandowski for his first goal on the year.
It was a nice lead to hold as rain came down at a steady pace throughout the game. Yet, before the half ended freshman Jack Giloth got in on the action with a strike from about 15 yards out in the 38th minute, and he scored again off a rebound in the 42nd minute to put Wooster ahead 4-0 heading into halftime.
Twenty-seven different players got into the game for the Scots. Goalkeeper Will Collis earned the win after playing the first 45 minutes to improve to 2-1-1. Hamilton Schattgen made two saves in the second half as the duo combined for the shutout.
In the end, Wooster outshot Pitt.-Bradford 29-7. Both teams took seven corner kicks.
Wooster moves to 2-1-1 with the win, while Pitt.-Bradford drops to 1-4. Next, the Scots will travel to Heidelberg on Wednesday.
