OBERLIN, Ohio – The College of Wooster men's soccer team held off a late push from Oberlin College and collected a 2-1 victory Saturday for its first North Coast Athletic Conference win this season.

Junior Manny Burton was a big part of that, scoring both goals for the Scots. The first came right away to start the second half off an assist from Max Rochester.

The second was a penalty kick strike in the 73rd minute. It would prove crucial as Oberlin got on the board in the 87th minute via a goal from Noah Binford.

Oberlin then got a late corner kick and missed on a chance to tie when David Shostak's header went just wide. The Yeomen also had a free kick with under a minute remaining, and Brian James' shot was saved by Wooster goalkeeper Will Collis.

Collis made four saves in the win. Wooster outshot Oberlin 17-10 and held the corner kick advantage 7-4.

To go along with Burton's two shots on goal, Evan Lewandowski also recorded two, and Andreas Xenofontos made three shots on goal.

With the win, Wooster is now 5-6-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the NCAC. Oberlin drops to 1-12 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

Wooster will host Hiram College on Wednesday.
