Men’s Soccer Nabs Five All-NCAC Spots

Junior Max Rochester was named to the 2018 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Soccer First Team, while four other Scots garnered All-NCAC honors as well.

Senior Alex Montalbano earned second team recognition, while the trio of Manny Burton, Wilson Freije and Will Collis earned an honorable mention.

Rochester led the team with 13 points, five assists and tied for the team lead in goals with four. He scored two game winners and was 1-for-1 in penalty kicks.

Montalbano led the defense to earn second team honors. He scored one goal on the year in a 3-1 win at Allegheny College on Oct. 23.

Freije was the second Wooster defender to earn All-NCAC honors, and he joined goalkeeper Will Collis as an honorable mention. The defense gave up 18 goals on the year for a 1.05 goal against average.

Collis played all but 45 minutes in net this season. He collected 45 saves and four shutouts.

Finally, Burton was another honorable mention after posting four goals and three assists. He tied for the team lead in goals with Rochester and was second in assists and points.

The junior came on late in the year, scoring 10 of his 11 points in the final five games. 

Wooster finished 8-6-3 overall and 4-3-2 for a fifth-place tie in the NCAC. The Scots had their first winning record and won eight games for the first time since 2006.
