Baldwin Wallace Tops Wooster 2-0

Dani Halbing attempts to make a clear attempt during Wednesday's loss.

The College of Wooster men's soccer team outshot Baldwin Wallace University 16-10 on Wednesday but failed to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss.

Baldwin Wallace (3-2) jumped out of the gate with a goal just 1:18 into the game. Near the corner, Zach Hoover placed a throw-in right at Joey Geither who promptly put the Yellow Jackets in front.

The score remained 1-0 well into the second half until Danny Ruple worked his magic and scored in the 82nd minute. For Ruple, the goal was his 47th of his career and it put him alone atop the Baldwin Wallace record books for all-time goals scored.

Meanwhile, Wooster was stopped time and time again by Yellow Jacket keeper Patrick Mehal who record five saves. Two late came in the second half via diving efforts, stopping potential goals from Keegan King and Max Rochester.

Wooster played without two of its better offensive threats in Bennett Anderson and Manny Burton. Will Collis collected two saves in net.

Wooster (1-4) will attempt to get back in the win column Saturday when they face Calvin College, who entered the year ranked second in the United Soccer Coaches preseason Top 25 poll.
