SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Sophomore Bennett Anderson gave The College of Wooster men's soccer team both of its goals on Saturday including the golden goal in overtime in a 2-1 win over Wittenberg University.
Anderson ended the game just 1:06 into the first overtime with a ball that went off the crossbar and into the net. Dillon Wheeler recorded the assist.
Earlier, Anderson knotted the game 1-1 in the second half. In the 58th minute, he scored thanks to a double assist from BJ Tally and Dani Halbing.
Wittenberg scored in the 21st minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead. It was a lead they held onto until Anderson's goal in the second half.
Wooster came out aggressive from the opening kickoff in the second half and ended up outshooting the Tigers 10-7 in the half and 16-11 overall. Senior Will Collis made three saves to record the win.
Wooster is now 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while Wittenberg drops to 4-11 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Scots return to action Tuesday when they host Kenyon College.
