14th-Ranked Lords Edge Scots in Final Second, 2-1

Max Hill makes a move just before scoring a goal in the 52nd minute.

A free kick from the opposite end of the field with under 10 seconds remaining miraculously turned into a late goal to send the 14th-ranked Kenyon College men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over The College of Wooster on Tuesday.

Isaac Johnson lined up the free kick next to his bench and launched the ball downfield in front of Atli Hrafnkelsson who found an opening and scored with .4 remaining on the game clock.

The play caught the Scots off guard, who seemed to have the momentum heading into a potential overtime situation.

After Kenyon got on the board in the first half to lead 1-0 at halftime, junior Max Hill had the answer in 52nd minute. He scored straight on from outside the goal box after capitalizing on a poor pass from Kenyon.

About 10 minutes later, Wooster had a prime opportunity to take the lead when Manny Burton led a breakaway but his shot off his left foot sailed high.

Wooster had another opportunity with just a minute remaining in the game when they received a free kick just outside the box. Charlie Krus took the kick but lined his shot right into the keeper's hands.

Kenyon outshot Wooster 16-9. Will Collis made four saves in net for the Scots.

The loss snapped a two-game win streak for Wooster who moves to 7-8 overall and 3-3 in the NCAC. Kenyon moves to 12-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the conference.

Wooster returns home Saturday to face Oberlin College at 3:30 p.m.
