Despite strong showings from its first-year class, The College of Wooster men's tennis team was dealt a 7-2 setback by DePauw University in the opener of a two-match Indiana swing on Monday afternoon at Greencastle, Ind.

The rookie duo consisting of Austin Hanna and Nebyou Minassie marked the bright spot for the Fighting Scots (3-5) in doubles action. Playing in the third flight, Hanna and Minassie came through in the tiebreaker to down DePauw's (5-5) Alex Bertolini and Will Sultan 8-7 (2).

In singles, fellow first-year Alon Liberman rallied back for a 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (7) win over DePauw's Bryce McClanahan, with that match also being contested in the third flight.

Despite the match ultimately going DePauw's way, senior Jesse DeWitt put forth a valiant effort in the fifth flight. After not winning a game in the opening set, DeWitt stormed back to take the second one 7-5 before dropping the third-set, 10-game tiebreaker 10-3.

Wooster concludes its Indiana trip with a 4:30 p.m. match at Wabash College (7-6) on Tuesday.
