Scots Prevail Over Little Giants 6-3

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The College of Wooster men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win over fellow North Coast Athletic Conference member Wabash College on Tuesday.

The men started by taking two of the three doubles matches and nearly took all three.

The No. 1 team of Austin Hanna and Nathan Devereux won 8-3, and the No. 2 team of Joaquin Abos Amo and Alon Liberman won 8-4. In the No. 3 matchup, Jesse DeWitt and Nebyou Minassie pushed Wabash to the brink but ultimately fell 8-7 (8-6).

In singles play, Liberman gave Wooster its third point quickly in the No. 3 flight with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. However, Wabash got one back in the No. 1 spot as Patrick McAuley defeated Hanna 6-3, 7-5.

With the match at 3-2 in Wooster's favor, Abos Amo gave the Scots the win at the No. 2 flight 7-5, 6-4. Devereux then secured the win with a 6-4, 6-3 victory in the No. 4 flight.

At No. 5 singles, DeWitt fell 6-2, 6-3, while Minassie closed the match at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 7-5 victory.

Wooster improves to 4-5, while Wabash drops to 7-7.

The Scots now head west to California where they will face Vassar College on Saturday and Chapman College on Sunday.
