Junior Nathan Devereux and first-year Austin Hanna provided the bright spot for The College of Wooster men's tennis team with an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles, while 12th-ranked Kenyon College won the rest of the matches to claim the 8-1 win on Tuesday afternoon at VandenBerg Courts in Gambier, Ohio.

Devereux continued his hot streak against Kenyon (12-3, 1-0 North Coast Athletic Conference East Division), as the junior won last year in the same flight, 8-2, while playing with then-first-year Joaquin Abos Amo. With Devereux and Hanna's win over Henry Barrett and Nicholas Paolucci on Tuesday, Wooster's (6-10, 0-2 NCAC East) now won at least one point in each of the last five matches against one of the NCAC's powerhouses.

While the other matches didn't go Wooster's way, the Scots had several other strong efforts, with Hanna leading the way. The Scots' rookie squared off against Paolucci, ranked 25th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region report, and finished on the wrong side of a tight 7-5, 6-4 match.

In fact, Wooster had its hands full with three regionally-ranked singles players in Kenyon's lineup, but the Scots held their own, winning at least five games off of each. At No. 1, Abos Amo dropped a 6-4, 6-2 match to eighth-ranked Austin Diehl, while first-year Alon Liberman's line was 6-3, 6-2 against fourth-ranked Jacob Zalenski.

Next, Wooster hosts Allegheny College (9-6, 0-0 NCAC East) in its final home match of the year at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
