Scots Drop Two Matches Including 7-2 Tilt to No. 12 Case

The College of Wooster men's tennis team wrapped up its regular season Saturday, dropping a pair of contests to Hope College, 6-3, and 12th-ranked Case Western Reserve University, 7-2.

Wooster won the No. 2 doubles flight to start things off against Hope. Austin Hanna and Nathan Devereux beat Tim Roe and Justin Folkert 8-3.

Devereux then helped the Scots out in singles action with a 7-5, 6-1 win in the No. 4 flight. Alon Liberman gave Wooster its other singles' win 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 2 flight.

Joaquin Abos Amo fell 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles spot. Hanna had the only 3-setter in the No. 3 slot but was on the wrong end of it, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).

Against 12th-ranked Case, Wooster fell behind 2-1 after doubles play as Devereux and Abos Amo snuck out an 8-5 win in the No. 2 flight.

In singles play, Case won five of the six flights in straight sets. Devereux disrupted their streak with a 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-2) win in the No. 4 flight. Nebyou Minassie fell 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 5 flight.

Wooster concludes the season at 7-12. The North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament is next, starting April 26 in Indianapolis, Ind.
