Tennis Teams Play at the Lindner Family Tennis Center

The women captured the moment with a team selfie on Saturday.

The men's and women's tennis teams competed in an exhibition match against Calvin College this past weekend to start their fall 2019 seasons.

However, what was interesting about the friendly competition was the location. The teams met at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, which is the home of the Western & Southern Open and part of the U.S. Open series.

"This was a fun and unique way to kick off the season," men's coach Zachary Hasenyager said. "It's not every day we get to play where the pros play and being on Center Court it was impossible not to imagine a stadium full of fans cheering you on."

The Center Court seats 11,345 spectators. The complex, which has 15 total courts on site, also includes the Grandstand that seats 5,000.

In addition to their exhibition matches against Calvin, the team also had a behind the scenes look at the complex which included the locker rooms, the fitness center, the food court, media rooms and box suites.

"It was a lot of fun and an experience I'll never forget," women's No. 1 singles player Qingyue Li said. "There aren't too many opportunities as a D3 Tennis player to play in a large stadium so that was really cool."

While the matches didn't count toward the teams' overall record, it was still an important trip that further created bonds and still maintained a high level of tennis.

"We had been looking forward to this trip for some time," women's coach Amy Behrman said. "We were really excited to take our teams and play on the same courts as some of the best tennis players in the world. It was a really great weekend and a fun way to kick off our seasons. I'll always remember the smiles on my players' faces!"

Last fall, Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Ashleigh Barty, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams were among the top draws playing on the same courts at the Western & Southern Open.
