KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Junior Joaquin Abos Amo's four wins in the back draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Championships headlined The College of Wooster's men's tennis team's weekend in Michigan.

Abos Amo started his run to the semifinals of the back draw with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Webster University's Riley Muren. He then downed Illinois Wesleyan University's Dylan Mikaili 6-0, 6-1 and DePauw University's Thomas Partridge 7-5, 6-2, setting the stage for a match with ninth-seeded Caio Rezende from Augustana College. That match, which took place in the quarterfinals, started well for Abos Amo, who won the first set 6-4, but Rezende rallied to take the second set 6-3 before the Fighting Scots' junior won the tiebreaker 10-8.

On Sunday, Abos Abo bowed out of the back draw against Kenyon College's Pascal Lee, who won in straight sets 7-6 (3), 6-3.

Sophomores Austin Hanna and Alon Liberman represented the Scots in doubles, and opened with an 8-6 win over Kenyon's Lee and Luis Andres Platas before getting tripped up by eventual champions Matthew Chen and James Hopper from Case Western Reserve University 8-3.

In the back draw, Hanna and Liberman advanced to the third round before bowing out to Augustana's Alvaro Leal and Rezende 8-4. Prior to that, the sophomores downed Greenville University's Robert Blume and Austin Burkhart 8-1.

Senior Nathan Devereux rounded out the Scots' contingent at the tourney. He opened with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ohio Northern University's Vinh Thai before getting knocked out by Washington University in St. Louis' Bernardo Neves, who was the fifth seed in the tournament.

The ITA Central Region Championships marked the final fall competition for the Scots.
