Ada, Ohio – After a 3-2 loss in game 1, the Scots found some offense to defeat Ohio Northern University 7-3 in game two and left Ada with a split and snapping a three-game skid.
North Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week Olivia Johnson had another solid outing in game one, pitching a complete game and allowing three runs on four hits. Her one mistake after allowing a run in the first came in the bottom of the sixth when Alicia Swierz hit a two-run home run to break the 1-1 tie.
Wooster got one back in the seventh thanks to a double from Torrey Totman and a one-run single from Grace Randall. With runners on the corners and two away, Molly Likins worked a full count but grounded out to second base to end the game.
Johnson's counterpart Kaitlin Surdej pitched the entire seven innings and allowed her two runs on six hits.
Kendall Lloyd finished 2-for-4 with an RBI double in the third. Totman hit 2-for-3 and scored both runs.
Starter Marissa Norgrove (3-3) received plenty of run support in game two as Wooster scored in every inning but the seventh. She pitched 5.1 innings and allowed three runs, while Johnson perfectly pitched the final 1.2 innings with three strikeouts.
The offense collected 13 hits and took advantage of four Ohio Northern errors.
Emmalee Cooke made things happen atop the lineup with a 4-for-5 performance with two doubles and one RBI. She scored every time she reached base, finishing with four runs and one stolen base.
Lloyd was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Gabby Lakes was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk drawn.
Heidi Likins was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a walk drawn.
Wooster (9-7) led 5-0 before Ohio Northern (7-9) scored two in the fourth.
The Scots now look forward to their first taste of NCAC action. They host Wittenberg University in a double header on April 3.
