Emmalee Cooke collected five hits and a home run during Wooster's sweep of Kenyon on Saturday.

Kenyon College scored early in both North Coast Athletic Conference games on Saturday against the College of Wooster, but The Scots immediately answered in both and took the sweep over the Ladies 7-5 and 7-2.

Wooster moves to 13-7 overall and stays undefeated in the NCAC at 4-0. Kenyon drops to .500 and is now 0-2 in the conference.

Sophomore Olivia Johnson pitched game one and had some bad luck in the first inning as Kenyon scored three runs on four hits and an error. Kenyon scored two more runs in the second, but Johnson was able to shutout the Ladies in the final five frames and allowed just four hits for the rest of the game.

The offense backed her up, eliminating a 3-0 deficit with a five-spot in the bottom of the first. Grace Randall recorded a two-run double to start the scoring, while Molly and Heidi Likins each added RBI hits. Their final run came with some smart baserunning as Johnson allowed her self to get caught stealing between first and second, which allowed Heidi Likins to score from third during the rundown.

Kenyon tied it in the second as the scoring cooled off. Wooster then put forth the winning runs in the bottom of the fifth when Gabby Lakes had an RBI double, and Marina Roski hit an RBI single.

The teams combined for 23 hits with Wooster collecting 13 of those. Emmalee Cooke and Kendall Lloyd each had three hits and went a combined 6-for-7 with two runs scored atop the lineup.

Johnson finished the complete game with a line of two earned runs and nine strikeouts. She is now 6-3 on the year.

In game two, Kenyon scored one in the opening inning, but Wooster had back-to-back RBI doubles from Roski and Heidi Likins in the second to take a lead in which they never lost.

Cooke had another solid game at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the third. Lloyd also went 2-for-4, and Heidi Likins finished 2-for-3.

Wooster used a 3-run fifth inning to pull away. Clogging the bases early in the inning, a couple of groundout and an error brought the Wooster lead to five.

Marissa Norgrove threw just 72 pitches in the complete game performance. Only one run was earned on her line as she gave up just five hits. She is now 5-3.

Wooster will look to carry their momentum in a doubleheader tomorrow against John Carroll University, which begins at 11 a.m.
