The College of Wooster softball team needed a rally in game two to complete the North Coast Athletic Conference sweep over Allegheny College on Wednesday, and it culminated in a walk-off single by Marina Roski.
Wooster took game one 4-2 and game two 5-4.
In game one, sophomore Olivia Johnson pitched all but one out, and Marissa Norgrove came on in a jam to secure the save.
Wooster scored early with a solo shot from Molly Likins. Roski had a sacrifice fly to give the Scots a 2-0 lead after four innings.
After Allegheny tied the game in the top of the fifth, Johnson took it upon herself to put the Scots up for good with a solo home run to left field. Likins added an insurance run later in the inning with an RBI on a fielder's choice.
Johnson recorded the first two outs of the seventh but ran into trouble after issuing two walks. Norgrove came in, gave up a single, but left the bases loaded to give Wooster the win.
Johnson gave up two runs in the 6.2 innings she pitched for the win. Likins and Grace Randall each went 2-for-3.
In game two, Wooster led 3-0 after four, but Allegheny scored one run in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh to take a late 4-3 lead.
Norgrove and Johnson switched roles on the mound. This time, Norgrove pitched all but one out and gave up four runs in the no decision.
In the seventh, Norgrove had a baserunner on second with two outs but gave up back-to-back doubles. Johnson came in to strikeout the last batter.
Now trailing 4-3, Emmalee Cooke drew a leadoff walk and reached second on a wild pitch. That allowed Randall to bring Cooke home on a double to right center.
Later in the inning, Roski came up to bat with runners on second and third and two outs. She promptly singled to right center to end the game.
In recording just one out, Johnson picked up her 13th win of the season. Likins had another two hit game, going 2-for-4, and Roski finished 2-for-3.
Cooke was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI.
The Scots improve to 22-8 overall and 9-1 in the NCAC. Allegheny falls to 8-18 and 3-7 in the conference.
The wins set up a NCAC showdown against first place DePauw University (18-10, 8-0). The teams meet in Greencastle, Ind. on Saturday.
